This week has seen 2 different opportunities for our parents and carers to meet up.
Firstly, we had an Ipad lunch. Parents, carers, friends and Chilterns staff met up over lunch, to share ideas and help solve any problems with Ipads. This was also a good opportunity for a general catch up and to meet new people.
Feedback we received included comments that it was:
- Great to have a reason to meet up
- The Ipad theme was of interest to all, and everyone learnt or shared something,
- It was good to meet other parents with children or young people with special needs. The opportunity to chat with others at school gates is missed when children are picked up by transport for school, or have finished education.
- Should be repeated. We plan to do the same again in September, so if anyone else would like to join us, you would be very welcome!
Secondly, the parents and carers of Breakaway Group members met up at The Maltsters Arms in Rotherfield Greys. This is the second time we have been there, and we would thoroughly recommend it! It has a cosy, friendly, traditional pub atmosphere, and the food is restaurant quality. Those that attended said that they appreciated the opportunity to meet or catch up with other parents and carers of young adults with learning difficulties, as well as the staff involved with running the Breakaway Group. Breakaway parents and carers will be offered a further opportunity to meet up in approximately six months time. Details will be sent out nearer then.
