Members of the Breakaway Group had the opportunity to get creative this weekend, with a trip to the Pottery in Aston, West Oxfordshire.
This was one of our more relaxed and leisurely events. Our choice of outing was perfect such miserable weather.
We arrived in good time, so were able to have a drink and a cake in the lovely cafe before making our way upstairs to do our very own pottery painting. Everyone enjoyed creating their own designs and these are now going to be fired in the kiln. We can’t wait to see what the finished products look like, and we should be receiving them in about a week’s time.
(We see this as a good excuse to call a get-together of Breakaway Group for a drink or light meal in a pub one night, so we can give out the pottery and catch up with each other… details to follow soon).
We then proceeded back to the Pottery cafe for a delicious lunch and then we had time to have a look around the wonderful gift shop and make a few small purchases.
We know quite a few families like to take drives, and we say that Aston Potteries would be a good place to head to. It is about an hour’s journey from Benson. They have ample car parking, the paths are smooth and the building is easy to negotiate with a wheel chair or walking frame. The cafe is light and airy with a great choice of lovely fresh food. The staff were very helpful on our visit. Pottery painting sessions need to be booked in advance.
